Turkey, Gazprom discuss expanding transit via TurkStream pipe
ABU DHABI, Nov 16 (PRIME) -- Turkey has suggested Russian gas giant Gazprom use the capacities of the TurkStream pipeline, whose unreserved volumes will amount to 9.75 billion cubic meters from 2022, Turkey’s Deputy Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar told reporters on Tuesday.
“We are discussing with Gazprom higher gas supplies to Turkey … because there are (unused) capacities of the TurkStream pipeline. In 2022, there will be 9.75 billion cubic meters of capacity available,” Bayraktar said.
He also said that the talks are aimed at signing new deals, as well as extending old contracts.
According to Bayraktar, Gazprom would like to supply more gas to Turkey, while theTurkish consumers need the gas meaning it is “a win-win situation.”
